Abuse of Older Adults Awareness & Response Training


About the Training:
Using an interactive collaborative training approach participants will:
– Develop an understanding of abuse of older adults – types of violence, signs of abuse and dynamics between victim and perpetrator
– Develop skills to assess an adult who is experiencing abuse, neglect or self-neglect
– Understand and implement strategies for safety planning
– Learn about resources to assess in responding to abuse of older adults

Who should attend this training:
– Front-line first responders: police, fire, ambulance
– Crime prevention practitioners and volunteers
– Victim services workers
– Professionals, individuals, or organizations who provide services to older adults or have contact with older adults
– Community members who are concerned about the abuse of older adults and want to learn about how to assist those who are at risk
