In 1995 Staff Sergeant Kevin Bernardin joined the Vancouver Police Department as a Reserve Constable. Kevin also worked as a radio dispatcher for the RCMP for two years before being sworn in as a Constable with the VPD in 1998.

Through his career with the VPD, Kevin has worked in many sections, including: Patrol, Bicycle Squad, Collision Investigation Unit, and Citizens’ Crime Watch, prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 2011. This promotion led him to positions within the Jail, Community Policing and Patrol sections. In 2016, Kevin was promoted to Staff Sergeant and now works in the Professional Standards Section.

Kevin’s close connections to community policing began in the mid-90’s with the Tri-City Speed Watch and Port Moody Crime Watch programs, along with helping to develop the Speed Watch, SAR & iPatrol iOS applications.
