Following service in the Royal Canadian Navy, Rod joined the City of Vancouver where his duties focused primarily on logistics support for emergency and event management with the Office of Emergency Management, and the Emergency and Operational Planning section of the Vancouver Police.

Rod continues assisting in instructing the nationally recognized Search & Canvass course. In 2005 he became Security & Emergency Coordinator with Metro Vancouver Regional District, responsible for Enforcement, Investigations, Public Safety and is a sworn Peace Officer under Provincial Legislation.

Rod is an active member of numerous associations and sits on several Provincial and National Security & Emergency committees. He is also a Counter Terrorism Information Officer (RCMP) and Fusion Liaison Officer (Washington State Fusion Centre).

Rod remains active in the Navy Reserve as a Regional Liaison Officer for Joint Task Force Pacific, liaising between the Canadian Forces and Civil Authorities in British Columbia. Honours include the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
